Salzburg: the third most beautiful city in Europe

Over 32,000 readers of the American travel magazine chose Salzburg, together with Venice, Florence and Rome, as the third most beautiful city in Europe.Condé Nast Traveller readers cast their votes Getreidegasse, Hohensalzburg Fortress, the Cathedral or Mozart's Birthplace – according to the "Condé Nast Traveller" readers, UNESCO's World Heritage Site is one of the top cities in Europe. Over 32,000 readers of the American travel magazine chose Salzburg, together with Venice, Florence and Rome, as the third most beautiful city in Europe. The renowned travel magazine recognizes the best destinations and resorts for travellers with its "Readers‘ Choice Awards". Readers vote on the best cities, cruise lines, airlines, hotels and resorts worldwide. Readers consider the Condé Nast Traveller the "Bible" of the travel industry.  Another award was presented by "Travel & Leisure“ (4.8 million readers, mostly American Express platinum and centurion card holders): In the magazine's poll for the "2008 World’s Best Awards," readers ranked the city of Salzburg at #10 among the Top Ten European Cities. The "Goldener Hirsch" Hotel in Salzburg's Getreidegasse ranked #13 among the European Top 50 – and is the first Austrian hotel under the 100 best hotels in the world. Salzburg already won another award this year:International travellers (15 million registrations at "Tripadvisor.com") selected Salzburg as the second most beautiful travel destination after the Greek island of Rhodes in TripAdvisor's 2008 Travellers' Choice Awards; Mozart's birthplace even ranked eleventh in the worldwide ranking. 25 million people use the TripAdvisor booking portal each month.
